September 2019, Salalah: The headquarters of Salalah Free Zone (SFZ) officially opened yesterday, September 2 2019, under the patronage of HH Sayyid Asaad bin Tariq Al Said, Deputy Prime Minister for international relations & cooperation affairs, and a personal representative of HM the Sultan.
Dignitaries, ministers, officials, invited guests from public and private sectors as well as media attended the inauguration.
During the unveiling, Ali bin Mohammed Tabuk, Chief Executive Officer of Salalah Free Zone, stated “The main building of Salalah Free Zone (SFZ) has been set in accordance to the highest international standards to provide integrated services to investors and companies, in order to enhance the efficiency of business, services and to contribute to raise the level of competitiveness to achieve the development goals that are in line with the objectives of sustainable development in the Sultanate.”
The total cost of the building is estimated to be RO 13.4 million. It is constructed in an area of 22,500 square meters, and consists of 7 floors, which inculdes administrative offices, leasable offices and service facilities.
HE Ahmed bin Nasser Al Mahrizi, Minister of Tourism and Chairman of the Board of Directors of Salalah Free Zone, said in a statement on the occasion, “The Sultanate has several free zones, which in turn provide a competitive advantage for multiple opportunities and options for the investors.”
Salalah Free Zone was established in accordance to the Royal Decree No. (62/2006) issued on 20 June 2006. SFZ is situated adjacent to Salalah Port and is one of Dhofar’s most important industrial hubs.
With more than US $5.1 billion of industrial investment, SFZ company has created a leading light and heavy industrial center with proximity to East-West trade lanes, as well as to the buoyant markets of the Indian Subcontinent, East Africa and the wider Middle East.
The SFZ company value proposition was built on lower cost of operations, improved offering and accessibility to target markets.
The new headquarters office building promises to become one of the area’s most prominent business addresses, while its nimble quick-start program enabling companies to set up and operate within the free zone area.
