September 2019 , SEOUL: The Embassy of the Sultanate of Oman partook in the Seoul Friendship Festival this year in Seoul Plaza, South Korea, from August 31 to September 1 2019.
The embassy’s pavilion included tourism brochures and plastic artwork embroidered with Omani-related images that were handed out between the visitors of the pavilion. Of course, in typical Omani hospitality fashion, coffee, dates and Omani halwah were also offered to the visitors, while the scent of Omani frankincense lingered in the atmosphere.
The embassy’s pavilion even included a variety of paintings, photographs of the beautiful, ecological nature of the Sultanate, as well as Omani silverware, fronds, pottery, weaving, clothing and samples of Omani media publications.
As part of Oman’s presence in the function, Muscat Municipality participated in the festival represented by Al-Ajyal Group of Omani Arts, who showed various heritage presentations. Their participation came within the framework of the cooperation between Muscat municipality and the Seoul Metropolitan Municipality.
His Excellency Mohammed bin Salim Al Harthi, the Sultanate’s Ambassador to the Republic of Korea and Dean of the Diplomatic Corps, delivered a welcoming speech on behalf of the Heads of Diplomatic missions. He stressed on the importance of the International Friendship Festival, which plays a great role in strengthening the convergence and understanding between people, and serves as a bridge for friendship and communication through culture and the arts.
