September 2019, Kokand, (ONA): Represented by the Public Authority for Craft Industries (PACI), Oman has concluded its participation in “The First International Handcrafters Festival” held in Kokand City, Fergana Region, at Uzbekistan, during September 10-15 2019 .
PACI, through its participation in Uzbekistan, has introduced the Omani crafts competencies to the visitors of the Omani corner at the exhibition, and to signify the importance of Omani crafts .
PACI’s participation came within the framework of promoting dialogue between different nations, and to highlight Omani craft heritage, in addition to emphasizing the efforts aimed to develop and promote Omani crafts. It also aimed to provide integrated information on the efforts of the Public Authority for Craft Industries PACI in preserving and develop the Omani crafts.
The Sultanate’s booth in this exhibition included a variety of wood, fronds, pottery and ceramic products, as well as bone carving products.
Sheikh Abdulwahab bin Nasser Al-Mandhari, Vice President of PACI and the one headed the Sultanate delegation to participate in The First International Handcrafters Festival, was in attendance, and visited a number Uzbek craft enterprises and projects as well as checked out the Omani crafts.
A Global Craft Conference titled “Prospects for the Development of Craft Industries And Applied Folk Art” was organized as part of the festival. The conference held two sessions: the first session was “International Experience in Traditional Craft Creativity: positive experience and national strategies”, while the second session was titled “The Craft Creative Traditions in the Middle Ages at Middle East Regions: sources of skills and inspirations”.
