September 24 2019, Muscat, (ONA): The Sultanate of Oman is hosting a two-day workshop, starting from today, for issuing reports on environmental conditions and climate forecasts in the Gulf Cooperation Council countries (GCC) at Salalah Rotana Hotel.
The Sultanate is represented by the Ministry of Environment and Climate Affairs, in cooperation with the United Nations Environment Program (UNEP)
The workshop, which is under the auspices of HE Sheikh Muhanna Bin Saif Al Lemki, Deputy Governor of the Governorate of Dhofar, discusses several topics, including contextualization, workshop objectives, adoption of the agenda and integrated environmental assessments.
It also covers a presentation for the United Nations Environment Program methodology in the aspect of integrated environmental assessment, a presentation for the Global Environment Outlook report, and to highlight ways on how to design an integrated environmental assessment as well.
The workshop also highlights the experiences of GCC countries in preparing the reports on the environmental conditions in the last five years, the canalization of the shortness of these reports, studding of indicators and presenting successful examples of reports.
