As a part of its marketing strategy, the Oman Ministry of Tourism will hold a workshop to promote the Sultanate’s tourism in Moscow and Saint-Petersburg.
The workshop will be held on the 9th of September and will be in the presence of HE Ahmed bin Nasser Al Mahrizi, the Minister of Tourism.
More than 21 private sector Omani tourism companies, and around 200 Russian tourism organizations and local media from the host country will participate in the upcoming promotional workshops.
The event will include visual and promotional presentations on the tourism potentials, services and the products in the attractive tourism sites in the Sultanate.
The seminar program also contains direct meetings to be held between Omani representatives and the Russian participants. In addition, a number of promotional offers will be provided by the participating tourism establishments.
Salem bin Audi Al Ma’amari, Director General of Tourism Promotion at the Ministry of Tourism, pointed out the increase in mutual tourism between Russia and Oman. Examples include the direct flights of Oman Air in terms of daily direct flights between Muscat & Moscow, and the opening of the Tourism Representative Office in Russia.
According to official released data, the number of tourists coming from Russia in 2018 recorded an increase of 162%, which means up to 10877 people, compared to 4,156 in 2017. In the first five months in 2019, Russian tourists flocked to Muscat and their numbers have amounted to 9,651.
Al Ma’amari also pointed out that the total promotional campaigns in 2018 amounted to 121 campaigns. These include: 20 campaigns in the French market, 13 campaigns in the Dutch market, 21 campaigns in the Indian market, 17 in the British market, 28 campaigns in other Gulf markets, 19 campaigns in the German market and 3 campaigns in the Italian market.
Ultimately, the Ministry of Tourism’s marketing strategy aims to promote Oman internationally as a quality tourism destination.
