The total number of visitors to the Salalah Tourism Festival rose to 602,922 people by the end of the eighth week – between the dates, 21st June and 15th August – compared to 665,539 people in the same period last year.
According to a survey conducted by the National Centre for Statistics and Information (NCSI), the total number of people who flocked to the festival on the eighth week (the week of August 15) amounted to 178,869.
Moreover, the released data showed that 87.2 per cent of all visitors in the eighth week, 155,888 people came by land 22,981 people by air.
Compared to the seventh week of the 2019 festival, the number of visitors coming by air rose by 38.7 percent – from 9,800 people to 15,132 in the eighth week by domestic flights, and from 6,771 to 7,849 in the same period by international flights.
At 523,801, GCC citizens, including Omanis, constituted 86.9 per cent of total number of all visitors, while Salalah also saw 3,292 Europeans and 1,988 people from other countries (not mentioned by the records).
