Oman’s Ministry of Manpower, represented by the Directorate General of Technical Education and the Directorate General of Vocational Training will be sending a delegation of 21 Omanis to the World Skills Kazan 2019 to be held in Russia from August 22-27.
This is the fourth time that Oman has participated in the World Skills competition – which aims to strengthen the skills of each participating nation’s technical human resources – after making its début at the 41st edition held in London, UK, in 2011.
The Sultanate’s team for the 2019 event includes skilled talent in the fields of electricity, AutoCAD, Electronics, Refrigeration & HVAC, Welding, Electrical Wiring, Graphic Design Technology, Software Solutions, Painting and Decoration, and Hairdressing.
The World Skills initiative aims to highlight the importance of vocational training and enhancement of technical skills among participating nations as they showcase their national cadres of talent equipped to meet the needs of the national, regional, and global economy and to foster their further development for students of local vocational colleges.
The 2019 edition takes place in Kazan, the capital of the Republic of Tatarstan in Russia – marking the first time the prestigious event will be hosted in this city with a history that spans millennia. Kazan is at the centre of an advanced region where Western and Eastern traditions meet and has played host to previous international events. Now, at World Skills 2019 young professionals from all over the world will be brought together at one of the city’s largest events.
