The price of a single date fruit has soared to reach RO10 on one Omani farm, according to farm-owner Mubarak Al Hasni.
The growing season for Al Nughal dates in Wilayat Dima Wa Al Taeen started four days ago, and date-lovers across the region are quickly scrambling to purchase these famous fresh summer fruits.
Speaking to Al Wisal FM, Al Hasni said date prices gradually drop after a week to OMR8, while they get sold for cheaper value and in kilograms after the date-growing season is over.
Al Hasni says: “Dima Wa Al Taeen is known for its dry, hot weather which contributes to the quality of dates.”
