Taxi drivers must turn the meter on when commuting passengers, the Ministry of Transport and Communications said in response to customers’ inquiries.
Turning the meter on is a must by law for orange taxis and drivers need to comply with it to save the rights of the two parties (driver and passenger).
In a Tweet, the Ministry said that under the condition where the driver and passenger agree on a fare, they can avoid using the meter.
If a cab driver refuses to use the meter, legal consequences will apply.
