Motorists beware! Thousands of counterfeit tyres were seized in a nationwide raid in service workshops, garages, and suppliers, the Public Authority for Consumer Protection (PACP) reported on Tuesday [February 19].
The inspection came in response to a complaint filed in Al Rustaq, when a consumer notified the authorities about suspicion about the production date of an allegedly new tyre that had ‘Jan 2019’ as the date of production.
Following this, PACP officials carried out surprise checks across the Sultanate, which resulted in the seizure of thousands of tyres which has their dates tweaked.
“Inspections are ongoing across all governorates of Oman,” said a source in PACP.
