Three held for selling expired tires in Oman

Selling expired tires in the Sultanate is on the rise as three people were arrested and fined a total of RO5,400 in Nizwa, the Public Authority for Consumer Protection (PACP) reported on Tuesday.

Two of the accused were held for selling tires that were beyond the expiry date and were fined RO2,000 each. The second person was convicted of hiring an illegal worker and was fined RO1,000. “PACP will penalize those violating the norms, and we call upon citizens and residents not to buy such tires,” said the consumer protection body in a statement issued online.

According to the law, the dealer or merchants should provide a minimum one-year warranty period from the date of sale of tires in new and used cars.
