Oman’s Public Prosecution has warned motorists who cross wadis and low-lying areas “intentionally” despite warnings from the authorities.
In a statement issued recently, the Public Prosecution said: “We have come across people who deliberately cross wadis and low-lying areas. This can be a serious risk to your life and the lives of the fellow passengers. As per the law, this is a punishable offence and can be jailed for three months and a fine of RO500.”
The warning comes after five people were washed away following Cyclone Melunu that lashed Salalah last month.
