Day two of the 2018 FIFA World Cup saw three matches in total, with the third – Spain vs Portugal – stealing the limelight. And much to everyone’s delight, the two teams couldn’t be split, despite six goals being scored.
The match concluded with much drama, despite Portugal being awarded a fourth minute advantage (penalty kick).
A duel ensued, and Spain rose to the top with three goals in the bag by the 58th minute. However, Cristiano Ronaldo had other plans – and by the 88th minute, the “world’s greatest” player had completed his hat-trick, thereby ending the match in a draw.
The match has been touted by several fans as an “instant classic”.

Egypt vs Uruguay
A late goal from Uruguay – courtesy a header by defender José Giménez – sealed their first victory at the 2018 FIFA World Cup. The win also marked the nation’s first ever win in the opening game at any World Cup tournament.
Early in the game, Egypt had showcased stellar discipline, holding their superior rivals goalless up until the 89th minute.

Morocco suffered a heartbreaking defeat after an own goal scored by substitute Aziz Bouhaddouz, thereby giving Iran a one goal advantage over the rivals during stoppage time.
