Flaxseeds are considered as a cultivated super food. These amazing seeds can do wonders to your health. High in fibre and low in carbs, they help in weight loss. Flaxseeds help you have healthy skin, hair and nails.
Add a tablespoon of powdered flaxseeds to your smoothie, buttermilk or salads and see amazing results. One tablespoon of powdered flaxseeds contains about 1.8g of omega 3 and a good level of oestrogen.
Flaxseeds help in lowering cholesterol levels naturally and they are gluten free. They are anti-inflammatory compared to gluten containing grains that are inflammatory. Flaxseeds are high in antioxidants that help your skin to keep the glow intact. These crunchy seeds promote digestive health as well.
However, higher doses of flaxseeds can be risky. They might cause side effects such as bloating, gas, abdominal pain, constipation, diarrhoea and nausea.
Flaxseeds should always be taken ground, with plenty of water. If your triglyceride levels are high it’s better to avoid flaxseeds. Flaxseeds if taken in high doses can lower blood pressure.
