Salalah Airport will remain closed for another 24 hours, the Public Authority for Civil Aviation (PACA) has announced.

Salalah Airport was intially meant to be closed to air traffic from midnight on May 25 for 24 hours. However, with Cyclone Mekunu nearing Oman’s southern coasts the airport will now only be reopened on Sunday.

In a statement, PACA said: “Following up the development of the cyclone, which is currently affecting Dhofar, and to ensure the safety of airspace movement the authority has issued a notice to extend the closure of Salalah Airport to air traffic tomorrow Saturday, May 26, 2018, for another 24 hours.”
