Omani students can now take up part-time jobs

The employers can now hire pensioners, jobseekers and students (in the age group 15-18) in Oman.



The Minister of Manpower on Sunday issued a decision 153/2018, amending certain provisions of Ministerial Decree 40/2017 that relates to the part-time jobs.

The employers can hire pensioners, jobseekers and students (in the age group 15-18) during the working hours 6 am and 6 pm.

Retirees and students have been added to list of those eligible for the part-time jobs as per the new amendments.

The percentage of the part-time labor force should not exceed (20 per cent ) of the planned Omanization rate, including those seeking job seekers, students and retirees:

The students to be employed must meet the following criteria:

The student must be enrolled in a public or private school provided that he is not less than 15 years of age and that his employment should be limited to the work and professions stipulated in Ministerial Decision 40/2017/

The consent of the student’s guardian is work shall be on leave days or outside school hours

The student’s work should not deprive him of any financial benefits allocated by the educational institution.
