Not only were Monaco fans forced to watch on as Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) secured the Ligue 1 title last night, they were treated to a 7-1 thrashing in the process.
Their worst ever defeat in the competition, the Mediterranean club have agreed to refund those fans who made the trip north.
“Monaco have made the decision to reimburse our supporters in the away end tonight,” the club stated on Twitter.
“Further information will be communicated at the beginning of the week”.
Monaco vice-president Vadim Vasilyev admitted that his side simply didn’t turn up as Angel Di Maria and Giovani Los Celso both scored twice at Parc des Princes, where PSG were 4-0 up after 27 minutes.
“The fans are the only ones who were up to the task and that is to be welcomed,” he said post-match.
“For us, it was somewhat catastrophic, but [the fans] pushed the team. We will do everything possible to make them proud in the next match,” the Spanish MARCA newspaper reported.
