Consumer beware: The do’s and don’ts of online shopping

Online shopping is easy and energy and time saving, but there are things you need to know to strike that perfect deal, writes Gayathri Das.

There are times you come back empty handed after a shopping trip. There could be many reasons for that to happen — you may not have got the right size or colour — but the fruitless exercise is sure to leave you frustrated as it consumes much energy and precious time, besides money you may spend on things you aren’t really looking for.

The way forward then is online shopping.

Getting the brand you want is easy: just set up Google alerts and laying your hand on the thing you loved to have is all so easy.

Always search for coupon codes for the brand. You can save or at least get free shipping out of them.

Research the brand’s size before purchase to avoid size issues. Always read the return policy as some discounted products will not have return or exchange.

There are try-and-buy options offered by a few sites. Go for the option, as you can try out the clothes first and need to pay for only if you like them.

Never save your card details when you do online shopping as it can be misused.
