Muscat: The Ministry of Information, in cooperation with the Public Authority for Radio and Television (PART) and Sultan Qaboos University (SQU), held the Second Media Family Forum (Our Media….Renewing Pledge), under the patronage of Sayyid Haitham bin Tariq al- Said, Minister of Heritage and Culture, at the Cultural Center of Sultan Qaboos University (SQU).
Dr. Abdul Munim bin Mansour al- Hasani, Minister of Information said in a speech on the importance of the strategic partnership between the Ministry of Information, PART and SQU in organizing the Second Media Forum, in addition to the and the establishment of the Center for Community Information to monitor and analyze the content of what is published electronically and to conduct studies and research to provide decision-makers with the necessary information regarding the work of their parties … The program ” Skills to Deal with Media ” has been completed in five workshops over two years for directors of departments and sections of public relations and media in government institutions.
He added that the continuation of the media excellence competition was announced, whose winners ( of professionals and students of journalism) were recently honoured, adding that the first batch of documents of the United Nations Media Archive was received in cooperation with the Foreign Ministry, as well as the issuance of Royal decree 3/2018 to establish the Media Training Centre which is administratively and financially independent and works in cooperation between the Ministry of Information, PART and SQU.
The Minister of Information announced in his speech the award of the Ministry of Information for Media Research. He pointed out that the establishment of the Omani Media Museum was started to tell the story of the human being through the history of the press and the media in Oman and what he said to the world about the Sultanate in his media.
The forum included honouring a number of the pioneers of the public press and the announcement of media excellence awards in the field of journalism, as well as honoring the Omani media professionals who won Arab and international awards in 2017, in addition to the opening of a photo exhibition about the presence of Oman in international newspapers in the last century.
