Wearing a seatbelt while travelling in a car will be compulsory under new traffic law which will come into effect from March 1.
Until now, only those seated in the front of a vehicle have been required by law to buckle up.
“One person – one seatbelt. Every person travelling in a vehicle must wear a seatbelt or use a child safety seat.”
“Drivers are responsible for ensuring that passengers are using the seatbelt or children travelling on board are using appropriate child car seat.” This also applies to children under the age of four. “Car seats for children under the age of four will be compulsory from March 1,” said Brigadier Mohammed Awadh al Rowas, Director General of Traffic.
