Oman strongly condemns deadly Egypt mosque attack

The Sultanate on Friday strongly condemned the terrorist bombing in North Sinai that killed and wounded hundreds of innocent worshippers, in a statement by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The ministry expressed solidarity with Egypt in combating the scourges of violence and terrorism.

The statement also extended deepest condolences to the families of the victims, praying to the Almighty for the speedy recovery to the wounded.

According to agencies, at least 235 people were killed and dozens wounded when militants set off a bomb and opened fire on people at prayers in a mosque in Egypt’s restive northern Sinai on Friday.

A furious Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al Sisi declared three days of mourning and pledged to “respond with brutal force” to the attack.

“The army and police will avenge our martyrs and return security and stability with force in the coming short period,” he added in a televised speech. – Oman News Agency/Agencies
