Companies in Oman can also process residence visas for 116 professions through the online system.
With the e-Visa being launched on Monday, people from 67 countries can now apply online for Oman visa through the Royal Oman Police website.
The e-Visa project is a major move by the Directorate General of Passports and Residences aimed at easing visa formalities and enabling more foreigners to visit the country.
Meanwhile, companies in Oman can also process residence visas for 116 professions through the online system.
“This is going to be a major change in the way visas have been processed,” Yusuf bin Alawi bin Abdallah, Minister Responsible for Foreign Affairs, said after launching the e-Visa.
According to sources at ROP, the e-visa, which will eliminate the traditional method of visa application, will enable hotels, tour operators and travel agents to apply for tourist visas online for their clients. The fee of RO 20, however, will remain the same as earlier.
